What are your thoughts? Would you rather receive a gift or a gift card?
What would you rather give?

Well.... I like getting presents but I also like giving presents. In some
cases I would like getting gift cards but if its a good present that I like then
i would rather get a gift.

chs christmas choir concert

I saw several of my students in the audience. If you went, what are your thoughts? If you didn't go, comment on the last performance of the CHS Choir you've had the chance to hear.

I didn't go last night. I think the last time I heard them is last year when they came to the ninth grade academy. They were pretty good.

Christmas Shopping

Who all are you planning to buy for this Christmas? Will you use your own money or does your parents/guardian give you money to spend? If using your own money, have you been saving up for this time of year? How important is it that you stay on budget (don't spend more that you've planned)?

I am buying presents for my mama, step dad, some of my cousins, and some of my friends. I will use some of my money but my step dad will give me a little bit of money. I haven't been saving money. Its not that important if I spend more than I've planned.

Thanksgiving holidays

What were you the most thankful for this Thanksgiving?

To be with my family.

Friday, November 21, 2008

What are your thoughts on these results? Do you believe them or not based on your experience and here at CHS? What does CHS need to do to educate and prevent these statistics from being so high?

I think its terrible that all these young people is doing such bad things. I'm 15 and I'm not involved in none of these kinds of things. So I'm proud of my self. I believe them because there is alot of you girls getting pregnant. So I think if CHS tries to prevent these kind of things it wont help so there is no use in trying.

Confidentiality

What do you think about knowing your friends' passwords -- school login, myspace, email, etc? Would you share your information with anyone else? What are the risks involved?

I don't really care about knowing none of my friends passwords. I wouldn't share my information so i wouldn't want them to share theirs with me. They could go on my stuff and mess it up or they could talk to somebody and have me in a lot of drama. They also could charge some stuff on my account.

30 Year Anniversary of Jonestown

This event happened way before your time...and mine, but it was a horrible tragedy. Use the net to research this day. Who was Reverend Jim Jones? What happened?

Reverend Jim Jones was an American founder of the Peoples Temple. November 18, 1978 death of over 900 Temple members in Jonestown, Guyana along with the deaths of nine other people at a nearby airstrip and in Georgetown. He was born in Indiana and started the Temple in that state in the 1950s. To the extent the actions in Jonestown were viewed as a mass suicide, it is one of the largest such mass suicides in history.

Future Business Owner

If you could start your own business tomorrow, what would it be? My choice is simple. I would enroll in a culinary institute and complete a degree in Pastry & Baking. Then, I would open my own speciality cake & gourmet dessert shops. For now, I just have to keep dreaming... :) I love teaching and being around all of you all, but I'm not sure it's my absolute passion. I think I would be happiest owning my own business.

UhMm... I don't really know rite now what kind of business I would open.

What are your thoughts on this very odd story?

I think it's good that the old lady could and wanted to help them. The babies are very cute. I think it's going to be weird if they tell the kids when they get older that their grandmother had them. I would have got tested to see if I had a disease or something before i put the eggs and stuff inside of me.

weekend

I didn't slow down all weekend. Being the one in charge of my church's fall festival, I spent every free minute Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at church. I am tired and ready for the Holidays! What did you do this past weekend?

Friday I was gone go to the game but my little cousins wanted to go to the fun place so my cousin Brittany could see her boyfriend. So I went with them and it was so boring. Then Saturday I went to to eat with my mother. When we got home I went to Brittany's house. We went walking. Then went back to my house and played with my little cousin's Jayla and Abel. Sunday I went back to Brittany's house and we played baseball with my other cousin's Drew and Adam and their friend.

Electoral versus Popular Vote

What are your thoughts on the electoral vote? Is it a fair system?
For example, since McCain won in Georgia, the votes of those in Georgia that voted for Obama didn't count. The same goes for those in Virginia that voted for McCain.By the way, I am disheartened at the election results (I will support my moral values regardless of the economy and race.), but .... SO glad we can finally quit hearing all this political hype. I'm ready for there to be real news instead of election banter. This should be the last political blog for awhile. =) I am very excited that both Saxby Chambliss (R) and Jack Kingston (R) both won in the Senate and House!

I think its good that he is our first black president. I just don't like what he thinks about abortion and that kind of thing. I also don't like the fact that he is Democrat.

Okay, so I did not make up that title...it is the title of the following article. Read the article and then pick which one you think would be the best.

Netherworld-Atlanta, GA. I think this would be the best. It would probably scare me the most. It looks like it would. I hate being scared.

Superstitions

I broke a mirror this morning while getting ready. I accidentally dropped my hand mirror on the tile floor. It pretty much shattered. :( According to superstitions from many years ago, I am now facing 7 years of bad luck!?! Personally, I don't follow this kind of thinking, but I've heard of many people that do. For example, my aunt used to make this X mark across the windshield if she was driving down the road and a black cat ran across. I laughed and thought it was crazy, but just something she'd heard for years and wasn't taking any chances. :D
Do you believe any old wise tales or superstitions like these? Why or why not? Where did the breaking a mirror superstition originate?

I believe in some of them. I don't believe in the one about the mirror because I broke a mirror about two years ago and I haven't really had any bad luck. I kinda believe in the one about the cat. I do mark a x on the window if one runs in front of the car. It originated from different times and different places.

4 Surprising signs you'll live a long time

1.YOU SKIP SODA (EVEN DIET)
2.YOUR LEGS ARE STRONG
3.YOUR MOM HAD YOU YOUNG
4.YOU EAT AND DRINK PURPLE THINGS

These are 4 ways to prolong your life according to a recent article on Yahoo. Read the article (http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/health/4-surprising-signs-you-ll-live-a-long-time-290919/). What are your thoughts on these research findings? Do you believe them? Do any of these signs already apply to your life? How old do you think you'll live to?

I believe most of them. Some of these occur to my life. Sometimes I drink diet soda but not usually. My legs are some what strong. My mom had me when she was like 28 I think so that's not to young. I definitely don't eat or drink purple things. I'm a very picky eater. Maybe I will live to be an old old lady.

Well this weekend was an alright weekend not the best. Friday I went to town with my cousin like usual. We rented some movies and went home and watched them. Saturday we went to town again and then we rode around. It was fun. Then we went home and watched the game. Odd News: Woman arrested for keeping kids' ball

An 89-year-old Ohio woman faces a charge of petty theft because neighborhood children say she refused to give back their football.
Edna Jester was placed under arrest last week and taken to the police station in the Cincinnati suburb of Blue Ash. Police say there had been an ongoing dispute over the errant football and a child's father called to report that Jester kept the ball after it landed in her yard.Blue Ash Police Capt. James Schaffer says police warned Jester twice and finally arrested her after she refused to accept a citation. She must appear in mayor's court next month.
Jester said Monday she didn't have time to discuss the incident, saying she has received many phone calls about it.
What are your thoughts on this CNN news article? (on
www.cnn.com today)

I think it was wrong for her not to give the football back but in a way I think they shouldn't have threw it in her yard. Even if it was an accident they should have been more careful. I think it is stupid that she didn't give it back because its just a football. To me I don't think its that big of deal to put someone in jail over a football but people have their own opinion.

Baby Names

My little neice in this picture is named Kyleigh Laverne. Laverne was my paternal grandmother's name. She was one awesome lady and although Laverne may not be the prettiest name out there, it is a name to be cherised within our family. If you had a child tomorrow, what would you name it?

By the way, Kyleigh only weighed a little over 3 lbs. She was about 2 months early and spent over a month in the hospital in Savannah. She is now around 8 months old and weighs about 13 lbs. She smiles all the time and is the sweetest baby girl I know!

If I had a boy I would name it Dion and the middle name after its daddy. If I had a girl I don't know what I would name it.

3rd & Final Presidential Debate

The last debate was last night and with only a few weeks left until the election, the campaign is heating up. I didn't get a chance to watch last night's debate since I was at church, but I plan to catch up with last night's happenings on CNN later today. Did you watch the debate? If you did, what were the big topics? Did the debate change your mind about who you are going to vote for? If you didn't watch, why didn't you? What did you do instead?

I didn't watch the debate. Since I didn't watch it then I don't know what the big topics are. I didn't watch it because I'm not interested in stuff like that I rather watch something else. I was probably in the shower or watching something else instead of watching the debate.

Random Act of Kindness

What do you think about this incident? Have you ever had anything like this happen to you before? Have you ever did this for someone else? What are some simple random acts of kindness you could do to make the world a better place?

I think he mite have been trying to impress one of you. Nothing like this has ever happen to me before. I haven't ever did anything like this for anybody but maybe one day I should. It would be very nice. We could not fight so much or have so much drama to make the world a better place.

I didn't watch it. So I don't know nothing about it. I am not really interested in that kind of stuff.

Goals Update

Look back at your very first posting on this blog. Have you met any of the goals on your list at this point? Do you need to revise (add or take off) the goals? Did you meet all the goals you set for 1st 9 weeks grades? Explain.

I have met a few but not many. I don't need to take any of them off. I didn't meet all the goals that I set for my first nine weeks goal but at least I am passing all of my classes.

While looking at a cooking magazine yesterday, I saw the oddest Hershey's Kisses ever -- Candy Corn. The description says that these kisses combine the sweet taste of an old-time kid favorite and the smooth, creamy flavor of white chocolate. Have you ever tasted one before? What do you think about them? Do you plan on buying a package of these kisses this Halloween season?

I haven't ever had one of these. I haven't even seen them. I think that I mite like them but you never know until you try it. I don't know if we are gonna get any for Halloween. My mom buys all the candy and stuff for Halloween.

The Weekend

What all did you do this past weekend? Go to the game in Moultrie? Go to church? etc.

I didn't go to the game or church. I went with my cousin to town Friday. It was a little fun. I spent time with them. Then on Saturday I went back to their house and we played with my uncles puppy's, and some other stuff. That night we went to the fun place so my cousin could see her little boyfriend. Sunday we went in the woods and my cousin killed a baby snake. I was scared.

I went to bed at 7 pm last night! I typically don't get in bed until after 11 pm. After a week and a half of revival at church, I was TIRED. I love going to bed early, but seldom do. How late do you typically stay up? Can you tell a difference in your school work when you go to bed early or stay up extremely late? Explain.

Most of the time i stay up until about 11 but lately i been going to bed around 9:30-10:30. I can't tell a difference in my school work.

Army Reps

How did yesterday's Army representatives influence your future choices? Are you now contemplating an army career after high school?

They made me want to go to college more. I'm also thinking about going to the army but i want to be like them where i don't have to go out and fight. I'm not sure though I mite just keep the career that I've had and be a teacher. I know for sure that I'm going to college.

Legal Drinking Age

Channel One has recently been talking about the push by some to change the legal drinking age. Should it be changed from 21 to 18? Why or why not? Pros and cons to the change? Read the information on www.channelone.com.Write a paragraph explaining your views (5 + sentences).

I don't think it should be changed because more people will get dui's. There will be more wrecks. I also think there will be more deaths at early age. If they do change it the company's will make more money but it's not worth having more people to die or get injured.

Do you think the speaker's presentation will aid you in your post secondary (college, tech, trade school, military, etc.) and career choices? What didn't you like about the presentation? Should Ms. Gay continue having speakers come into our class?

I think she did very well. She made me want to go to college even more. I enjoyed it, because i learned more about college and the recommendations to go to college. I liked the presentation. It was kind of interesting. Ms. Gay should continue having speakers come into our class.

Meghan McCain Blog

I discovered John McCain's daughter's blog this morning. http://www.mccainblogette.com/ She is 23 years old and is blogging about her experience on the campaign trail. She is on the verge of possibly becoming the President's daughter. Already she is experiencing being followed around by secret service agents, but that will become a constant part of her life if her dad wins the election. Read some of her blog. It's quite interesting! How would you handle being constantly followed by someone? Would you welcome or resent the protection? Write on paragraph (5 sentences +) describing your thoughts.

I wouldn't like anyone to follow me around all of the time. I would want some time and space to my self. I would eventually get mad and probably try to run away or something. I mean I would like the protection but it would make me feel weird if I am being watched.

Love Quote

It's better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all. ~ Alfred Lord Tennyson. Do you agree? Explain.

Abandoned Baby found at Beijing's Bird Nest toilets

This article was on yahoo news this morning. It follows:A visitor to Beijing's National "Bird's Nest" Stadium was shocked to find a new-born baby abandoned in one of the venue's toilets, local media reported on Wednesday. The baby, later identified as a girl, was found by a woman around noon on Tuesday at the Bird's Nest, which is currently holding athletics events for the Paralympic Games, the Beijing Times said."The woman told venue staff that there was a newborn baby in the toilet, with blood still on its body," the paper said. Volunteers and staff searched for the mother for two hours to no avail, then sent the baby to a hospital. The baby was in good health and was feeding, the paper said, citing people with knowledge of the situation, but said the whereabouts of the mother remained unclear. Authorities were investigating, the paper said. What are your thoughts on this article? Why do you think the mother did this? Write at least a 5 sentence paragraph expressing your thoughts.

I think that if she had a baby she should have stayed with it or at least gave it up for adoption. She mite have done it because she wasn't ready for a child. She could have had something wrong with her. To me I think that it was wrong for her to do that. I think she is crazy in the head.

Brittney Spears & the VMAs

Did you watch the MTV's Video Music Award Show on Sunday? What did you think about Brittney Spears performing? Who was your favorite performer? Do you watch it for the music or just to see what the artists are going to wear or say? If you didn't watch, why not?Actually, I didn't watch it, but have just noticed some mention of the award show on every news page on the web...and wonder if Brittney Spears really thinks she can have some kind of great comeback after the world just wondering if she's completely psycho -- shaving her head, drug overdose ER rants, improper care of her kids, etc. I honestly think she's a horrible role model and wonder what MTV is doing promoting her so.

I didn't watch it, because i was at my cousins house and i don't hardly watch TV until night when I go to sleep. I do not like Brittany Spears. She is not a good role model. I think she is crazy in the head.

Teen Pregnancy

As everyone has observed, teen pregnancy has been on the rise over the past 2 years. Why do you think this has happened? Is it related to peer pressure? Accidental? Planned? Please write a one paragraph (at least 5 sentences) response. Your response should not include specific people's names or contain graphic or vulgar wording.

I think this has happened because more and more teens are not being protective. They just do not care anymore, and their parents aren't watching them closely. Some of it maybe from peer pressure, but more than likely it's just from them not being careful and not making smart decisions. I think most of them are accidental because i wouldn't think that this many people would wont to start life as a teen.

FutureNow Assembly

What did you think about the assembly yesterday? Write a paragraph (at least 5 sentences).

The future now assembly was okay. It could have been better. I liked the first song they did. I also liked the dance to that song the best. Some of it was boring, but over all it was pretty good. It was better than being in class doing work.

last 2 days....

Often CEOs have to be away from the office. The employees still have to be productive. Also, the employees are to take pride in their facilities and environment regardless if the CEO/Manager is there to watch over their shoulder. This didn't happen Monday & Tuesday in C305. Why not?How did the class behave? What did you observe happening? If you know any specifics, please report them to me without naming individual students on your blog.

I don't now why it didn't happen. Our class behaved okay, not the best. i observed the class doing their work and talking. i don't know any specifics, most everyone was behaving.

What are your thoughts on the Olympics being held in China? Have you been watching the Olympics this week? What effects will the killing of American visitors to the Olympics by a Chinese man have on the US's relationship with China?

I don't watch the Olympics, so I don't really know whats been going on. I am not interested in them. I do not think it will effect them because they only killed one man, not alot of people.
